Larry Hagman receives nominations for Texan of the Year

Posted by Brenda - December 5th, 2012

They started shortly after Larry Hagman died Thanksgiving weekend. They continued through the next week and into this one. Larry Hagman is a people’s favorite for Dallas Morning News Texan of the Year.

A sampling of the emails, starting with one from yesterday:

– From Dorothy Herrington:

I nominate Larry Hagman as Texan of the Year.  Not only was he a great entertainer (who could possibly forget “J.R.”?), but he supported the South Dallas Cultural Center,  launched the Larry Hagman Foundation, gave thousands to the Dallas Children’s Center, Big Thought, Artreach, Frazier Revitalization, and also organized a program for Dunbar Elementary.  He advocated organ donation especially after his own transplant in 1995.  The only Larry Hagman most of us knew was that he had such a zest for life, and had this uncanny ability to play his acting parts like no other.

We shall never forget him, and will miss him greatly.  I would wonder what he  is orchestrating upstairs right now, but  am sure all those present are under his spell at this very moment.  Oh, that we could see what kind of mischief he is conjuring up, as he twitches those eyebrows.  You can bet it is entertaining.

– From Jim Barnhart:

Even though he lived elsewhere for many years he never forgot his birthplace and kept the Texas mystique alive with his career, and then quietly in his personal life did as much as he could in the charitable arena with no thought to enhancing his image publicly. This should be Larry Hagman’s year.

– From Suzy Hagar:

In recent days, it is very apparent the impact a youngster from Weatherford, Tx would do so much to establish the persona of the rugged Texan………………for the rest of the article go to:

New Healthy Wine for Seniors

Posted by Brenda - December 5th, 2012

I kid you not …. new wine for seniors ……………

California vintners in the Napa Valley area, which primarily produce Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio wines, have developed a new hybrid grape that acts as an anti-diuretic. It is expected to reduce the number of trips older people have to make to the bathroom during the night.

The new wine will be marketed as
PINO MORE

I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE
I just couldn’t  help it.

Iraqi refugee arrested for explosion in Casa Grande…No media coverage

Posted by Brenda - December 3rd, 2012

Editor’s Note: Updates to this story follow the article………

by
Patrick Poole

PJTattler

The typically quiet town of Casa Grande, Arizona, was rocked by an explosion at the local Social Security Administration office early Friday morning of what appears to an improvised explosive device (IED). No one was hurt in the explosion, which occurred shortly before the office was scheduled to open. The explosion was reportedly heard and felt all over the area.

While the little town of Casa Grande and the nearby Phoenix area are talking about the incident, virtually no one else is. In fact, the only reason I was following the story is because I’m presently in the area and saw the initial reports on the explosion and continued to look into it .

Within 90 minutes of the explosion, police had a suspect in custody. But you wouldn’t know it from reading the establishment media reports this past weekend. One reason might be that the suspect is 47-year-old Abdullatif Aldosary of Coolidge, AZ, an Iraqi refugee.

On Friday, federal agents served a search warrant on his home. Aldosary has been on the radar of the Department of Homeland Security for at least the past couple of years.

Late Sunday afternoon, I confirmed with a source at the Phoenix FBI office that the case is being investigated as an act of domestic terrorism. The source said that Aldosary is expected to be charged with a host of federal and state explosives and arson charges. (See update below.)

On Saturday, the Casa Grande Dispatch reported:

An explosive device was detonated Friday morning by the back door of the U.S. Social Security Administration office, shaking downtown Casa Grande, but no one was injured.

Federal agents, including those of the FBI, rushed to the scene. The FBI would not……..for the rest of the article and updates go to:
